Ghost of Yōtei Announced
Ghost of Yōtei - Announce Trailer
In 1603, Atsu sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.1
What can I say? Samurai are cool.
It was and is no surprise that Sucker Punch is continuing down the Ghost path. They supported the original game substantially with DLC, a surprise free multiplayer mode, and a PS5 Director's Cut. Plus, we have the movie out there in the winds of Hollywood.
I am quite happy to see them leave Tsushima itself behind. Jin's story felt complete. There is greater potential in a new character and location, I think. The locations, mood, and gameplay teased in the trailer all look good. It even sounds better in Japanese.2
I am getting big ol' Sly Cooper and Blue Eye Samurai energy from this game and I am here for it. My brain jumps to our protagonist being wronged and seeking vengeance against a group of perpetrators. Open-world design may let you approach and take down these figures in any order you see fit.
I do hope the game is less repetitive than Tsushima. I may have earned the Platinum, but I pet far too many foxes and wrote too many haikus for that. My buddy Logan agrees.
All in all, I am looking forward to seeing more from Yōtei next year.

And it appears that the trailer is synced up with Japanese and English in their respective trailers. Hopefully this support makes it to the game at launch instead of a patch down the line. ↩
