"Couple of life updates: Moving to Japan tomorrow. Also forming a game studio — more on that soon!"

Agarwal was at Naughty Dog for a decade before leaving earlier this year. He helped ship the PS4 games and was the co-director on The Last of Us Online (RIP). I wasn't surprised when Agarwal left given that game's cancelation.

I'm not terribly surprised at the moving to Japan news either, just considering how expensive it is in California.

While that new studio is a mystery, we can learn a tiny bit more by scrolling back in his feed.

"As someone actively building a game in UE5, I’m excited for all the incoming improvements Epic showed off. Love this engine. Special shout out to Hazelight Games too for publicly maintaining Angelscript, an incredible scripting language that works great for multiplayer as well."

Doesn't take a detective to know that Agarwal loves multiplayer and is working in that space. Unreal Engine 5 makes sense as the engine of choice for a new team in the current landscape.

I still can't believe Naughty Dog axed Online after so much time in development. That game was gonna be sick.
