Summary
Often considered the 2D Super Mario game. Expansive world map filled with levels to explore and a plethora of new mechanics. Yoshi.
Acquisition
I bought Super Mario World bundled with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island off Goodwill's auction site. This was right as I was easing into collecting a few SNES staples. I really just wanted Yoshi's Island.
Memories
Super Mario World is one of those gaming constants in my life. That makes sense given it came out three years before I was born and was almost guaranteed to be around any Super Nintendo I interacted with at an early age.
That said, I’ve never dabbled beyond the first world. I’ve watched plenty of speed runs and am familiar with its art and mechanics, but I’ve never sat down and said, “I’m going to play Super Mario World. Maybe I’ll fix that someday.
